Andrew is a lifelong New Yorker who loves the NY Giants (our family has had season tickets since 1959), is an avid Rangers fan, suffers with the NY Knicks and is one of the most loyal Pittsburgh Pirates fans in the country. It is a commonly known statistic in our family that from the time of Andrew’s engagement to his wife Lisa in 1993 through the 2012 season, the Pirates went 20 years without achieving at least a .500 record.
Stuart is a sports fan who can spend hours watching videos of old sporting events, the 1970s NY Knicks or any baseball game announced by Curt Gowdy or Lindsay Nelson are his favorites, or on baseball-reference.com fascinated by legacy baseball statistics, he loves the 1976-1978 NY Yankees. Stu has also been found on many occasions watching a variety of sports documentaries, including anything he can find on the 1980 Gold Medal US Men’s Ice Hockey Team. Like his brother Andrew, Stu is also an alum of Penn State, and much more interested in old-time football players than today’s NFL.
Josh is a recent graduate of Boston University, the occasional voice of the BU hockey and soccer teams and a member of the media team for the defending Cape Cod Baseball Champion Cotuit Kettleers. He is also a die-hard NY Islanders and NY Giants fan as well as a Seattle Mariners fan (?). Josh also gets credit as the only member of the Rothstein family to chronicle the career of an umpire. Yes, umpires and referees have numbers as well!
Matt is a soon to be graduate of Jericho High School who will be attending the University of Miami in the Fall. A most passionate Arsenal fan who gets full credit for educating this group on a number of colorful and talented soccer players. He is also an avid NY Islanders and NY Giants fan and I believe he has injected some measure on fiction writing into a few of his background stories. Lastly, Matt’s self-confidence and sense of humor were on full display as he started this whole exercise by choosing himself for #1.
Ben will soon be Junior at Horace Greeley High School, was born in San Francisco, hometown of his mother, city where his parents fell in love and the Bay Area remains the home to his maternal grandparents and where he left his heart. He moved to NY when he was 5yrs old but has vehemently maintained a fierce loyalty to the Bay Area and to his beloved SF Giants, Warriors, Sharks and 49ers. Ben is also a strong believer that being a sports fan is more fun if you have two favorite teams in every professional sport, so we will occasionally see someone from the Orlando Magic, NJ Devils, Indianapolis Colts or Florida Marlins pop up.
